Once registered, it is simple to take part in an auction or request an auction. Buyers wishing to purchase an item from a Classified Listing do not need to register with the site.
There are two types of auction: private and public auction. Public auctions are open to all registered users of SalvageSettlers.com. Private auctions are by invitation to registered users, where registered users can request to be invited.
To take part in a private auction, the interested individual needs to request an invitation. SalvageSettlers reviews the request and informs the registered user whether they have been approved to participate in the auction, or not. If approved, the interested bidder then submits the EMD to SalvageSettlers. Once the EMD has been received, the user can log in at any time to place his bid.
For buyers wishing to arrange a Reverse eAuction, the buyer registers with the website and then supplies details of the goods or services that they wish to procure. Once approved, the details are uploaded on the website, along with T&Cs. Post the auction, the buyer receives an auction report and approves the winning bid. The supplier then delivers the goods or services as per the T&Cs and invoices the buyer for these.
For items in the classified listing section, users simply contact the seller directly via the website. The seller is responsible for contacting the potential buyer to progress the sale. SalvageSettlers is not involved with trade carried out via the Classified Listings section of the website. The buyer and seller are responsible for agreeing a price and for lifting and payment. SalvageSettlers’ only involvement in the process is to receive a copy of the initial communication between a buyer and a seller.
